After a request from my lovely friend who was a bit stuck as to how to wear her Maxi skirt. Mascara is essential in every woman’s make- up bag and you can soon find yourself wasting money on bad ones. So I thought I’d write about a few I’ve tried and tested!

Soap and Glory- Thick and Fast (currently free with this month’s ELLE magazine) usually £10.00

I was a little weary of this one, usually when something is free it’s normally for a reason. Unfortunately this freebie hasn’t broke the mould. The brush promises great big thick lashes with no clumps, its even got a rubber brush which I normally would have every faith in, but for some reason all I kept getting was clumps, I also found it didn’t not lengthen my lashes anywhere near as much as other mascara’s I have used. It’s real shame as it was free! I haven’t tried any other products in Soap and Glory’s make up range, but I have to say this has put me off a little. They probably need to stick to making the soap! (O dear- it’s been a long day)

Blink+ Go Long Lasting Mascara – Free with my December Glossy Box- Usually

I didn’t give a particularly in-depth review on this in my December Glossy Box as I hadn’t actually used it yet. However due to an emergency mascara drought in my house I gave it a go! The solution is very thick and you can really feel it weighing your lashes down, it also made my top and bottom lashes stick together a bit. Not an pleasant feeling. The worst was yet to come, trying to remove the mascara was very difficult after I had washed my face with cleanser, it began to peel off my lashes like the glue you get on the front of a magazine gluing a free gift to it. Rather painful to remove actually. Would definitely not recommend this to anyone who wants keep all their eyelashes!

MaxFactor False Lash Effect – Full Lashes Natural Look- £10.99

This is basically the best mascara I have ever brought. I would swear by it every time. It gives you length without clumps, definition and just enough thickness without being over the top for the day- time. I would trust any of the Maxfactor mascaras to be honest, I’ve used the Fusion and the Master Piece and I was really impressed with both. I would urge you to try this to see for yourself!

Just want to do a little post about Tumblr! Ive had it for a few weeks now and I absolutely love it don’t know why I havent got it sooner! (Personally think it’s better than Pinterest- though I’m yet to properly explore this!) It’s basically a like a blog but its heavily photo-based rather than text. It was so easy to set up and didn’t involve waiting for an invite! (cough like Pinterest). There are thousands of themes and layouts to choose from for you Tumblr and you can post really whatever you like, follow other peoples Tumblrs, people can also like and reblog your images. I tend to post about anything and everything. Though it does tend to heavily feature clothes, cats and food. Why not set one up!? It’s great for keeping a little mood board of inspiration for when your lacking motivation or creative ideas.

This season, the statement necklace to be seen in is a metal collar. Below I’ve picked some of my favourites from the high-street; no matter how tight your budget is. (January is horrible isn’t it ? 5 weeks long!!) I was inspired by style blogger Morven Watson who is pictured below (really recommend her blog by the way check it out here! Her outfits are right up my street). I would suggest to wear your collar with a dress or outfit that is as simple as the necklace for effortless elegance. Topshop Leigh Jeans

A couple of weeks ago my friend and I ventured into the Topshop Cheltenham store. Rather than searching through the messy sale rails, we headed straight to the new season stock. Now I’m not usually one for buying jeans, but when I tried these babies on I couldn’t help but be seduced! The fit is amazing, they stay “skinny” all the way down to the ankle and don’t need hitching up every 2 minutes. I held off buying then as I thought they probably would be in for quite a while but this weekend I couldn’t wait any longer and decided on buying them in the Raspberry colour at the Worcester Topshop. I think I definatley will see what other shades they bring them out in and invest in another pair (cough a really light lilac colour would be great- thanks Toppers). My Weekend

Few pics from my weekend. Taken with Instagram, an app which I really recommend if you have an Iphone. Lots of great effects which make your pictures look like they were taken with old camera’s and with various lighting effects.

Clockwise from Left: I looked after my mums dog, Harvey on Friday night, hes such a lovely dog, show cocker spaniel if anyone wants to know. He kept me company all day, whilst I did some of my SS12 sketches (I will be uploading these soon but there are so many!)

I had recently been told I should get the iPhone app “Fancy”. I love it already, it’s an app where people can upload pictures of inspiring places, gadgets, fashion, pets & art work. If it’s available to purchase you will be directly linked to it by tapping the picture and selecting ‘where to buy’. I have discovered so many new shops on Etsy via this app. Including these gorgeous sticks and stones rings which I really want! Her shop on Etsy is here ColbyJune. You can also follow your friends on the Fancy app to see what they are “fancying”. It’s great if your feeling uninspired on journeys to and from work or if you’ve got a few minutes in a day to spare. Moving on I also painted my nails this weekend after having bare nails all week- how very boring! I used Maxfactor Cloudy Blue mini nail varnish as the base and just a pure white french tips polish for the polka dots. I did these freehand you would be able to tell this very quickly if I photographed my other hand! I prefer to use a dark blue polish rather than black as it just feels less severe.

Lastly my lovely, very late on the band wagon, Barbara Hulaniki Red Leopard print Topshop dress (in stores in 2009) arrived in the post on Friday from eBay. It is very short so I wore leggings with it on Saturday night. I really love it and can’t wait to wear it in the summer! Still waiting for my beloved American Apparel Disco Pants to arrive. I really hope they fit, I’ve wanted some ever since my friend told me about them back in October but at £70.00 I just couldn’t bring myself to get them, but I got a 30% discount voucher from American Apparel last week which made them £49.00 So I decided to order them to see what they are like! I think they are due tomorrow yay!

New Girl

Last Friday the New U.S. comedy tv series ‘New Girl’ went out on Channel 4. I managed to get hold off the first 9 episodes which have already aired in the U.S. and have already watched them all. The show is centered around Zooey Deschanel’s character Jess who after a break-up, moves in with 3 guys. She’s a little bit crazy but you can’t help but love her! I found myself falling in love with her wardrobe whilst watching it for 4 hours straight, so I’ve put together a few items to recreate some of her looks from the show.

Annoyingly as is always the case with the American TV shows there is now a massive break before the second half of the series comes out! Meanwhile I’ll be watching all the episodes again on Ch4 at 8.30pm on Fridays (repeated on a Saturday at 11.50am incase you miss it!) I would throughly recommend watching it. Hope you find it as funny as I did! Episode 4 is brilliant!
